Philosophically, it's very much like the other scandals in the news, Enron, Global Crossing. Admittedly, those were accounting issues, but basically, it is a very similar situation. You have a system in place, and you pay an outside firm to come in and look at your system and tell you if you are following your system properly. The moral/ethical question becomes, do they tell you the truth and risk losing the money you are paying them? Or do they overlook the little things here and there. Let this one slide, just work on fixing it before we come back.
Until the house of cards collapses under its own weight and shaky foundation. What amazes me, I guess, is the more I talk to people, working for other companies, in other industries, in other situations, basically, it's the same.
I step back and look and have to ask, how did we become so askew from what we were taught as children to be right and wrong? Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the "Leave It To Beaver" life of the 50's is the ideal we should strive for. I just wonder if our rejection of that philosophy has taken us to far in the other direction.
Now how did I get on the ramble? .............
Oh yeah, the audit is tomorrow. I have to pick up the auditor at the airport and then take him back after it's over. I got an email from my boss's boss, on Friday. Even though, everyone knew I would be getting here with the auditor at about 9:00 in the morning, he has scheduled another meeting from 9:00 to 9:30 tomorrow. I'm supposed to just "entertain" the auditor until they're done. fucker. Another delay tactic.
And then, Thursday, I have another of those all-day meetings we have every couple of months.
Lynn has been talking for the last couple of weeks about us taking some weekend road trips again. Although, I'm not sure how he thinks we'll do this, since I am working most weekends, now. He wants to make another trip to St. Louis, to Hot Springs, AR, and another to Colorado. Yeah, I'd like to go, but...........
There may have been a mix up on the tickets to New Orleans. I guess we'll find out when we get ready to board the plane. American said they had no record of my reservation from KC to Dallas. That they showed me starting the trip in Dallas. Hhhhmmm, could be interesting.
Oh well, I guess I should get back to work. I need to print out several manuals for the auditor to use tomorrow.
Maybe I'll go out to lunch today. It's been a couple since I had lunch.
