Let's see, first was the excessive work schedule last week. It was about 50 hours for the regular job and 30 for the part time place. We had one of our Japanese customers visit the plant and it ended up being a two day extravaganza. They brought 9 people from 3 different locations, so they could bitch about how poorly we're doing.
Then worked full days both Saturday and Sunday at the store.
Lynn got a call Saturday night telling him his grandfather was in the hospital. But they didn't have a lot of information, other than he was in a quite a bit of pain. He decided he would drive down on Monday to visit a couple of days, since the reports on Sunday weren't good news. They still weren't sure what was wrong, but hinted that he might not have much time.
So Lynn headed out, and ran into a number of problems, the worst of them, his engine throwing a rod, when he was half way there. He ended up waiting on the side of the highway for 2 1/2 hours, for the tow truck to show up.
On Tuesday morning, he got the call from his mom, that his grandfather had passed away. He's now in Wichita, meeting the rest of the family. They'll have the funeral on Saturday morning. I'll be driving down tomorrow night, when I get off from the store. And then driving back Saturday evening.
Then it snowed on Tuesday. It wasn't a really heavy snow, but you wouldn't know it from how long it took me to get home from work. Normally it's only about a 20 - 30 minute drive, but Tuesday it was 3 hours. I didn't think I was ever going to get home. It took 1 1/2 hours just to go 3 miles.
Then yesterday and today were another two days full of meetings. I didn't get out of work until 8:00 last night, since the meeting just ran on and on. It was pretty much a repeat of last week, when the Japanese didn't want to leave and stayed half the night.
Well Lynn just called. He made it down and was able to pick his sister up at the airport. They're headed over to have a couple of drinks before their parents get to town. From the sounds of things, there may already be some rumblings between various family members about who's gonna get what from the estate.
