Leaving work in about an hour to head over to the conference. When I've told people I will be out the next 2 1/2 days, they keep asking where I'm going. When I tell them, they all get this glazed look in their eyes and just make some comment about how much fun that sounds. Yeah, I know. Doesn't sound THAT fun to me either. But it is good for the career. And I might pick up some useful information there.

One of the engineers has created an Access database that he is now wanting to convert to SQL. I installed a SQL server, a few years ago and loaded a purchased application on it. But I can't say I'm a SQL administrator. This new database would need administering. So Curtis is looking into courses on administration. He's wanting me to attend classes with him. Basically so I can help him through the course.

Part of me thinks it would be fun to go back and take a college course again. But then I think how full my schedule is already. He is talking about going during the day, since this is work related.

He just called back. One of the local community colleges is offering a summer course. The issue, it's a four day course. It meets on Tuesday and Thursday for 2 weeks, from 8:30 - 4:30. I guess I'll wait and see what happens.

The weekend was pretty busy with work. I did end up picking up a new computer for Lynn's brother at work yesterday. He' currently using a vintage Dell Pentium system. It won't play his games, he can't add a CD burner, and he can only access a small portion of the huge second hard drive he added. So I got him a Compaq system with an Athlon 2200+, 256 MB DDR, 80 GB, and DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo. It's only got a 32 MB intergrated graphics adapter, but it does have an AGP, when he wants to upgrade.

And since I work there, the tech guys take care of me. They had the whole system checked out and ready to go, by the time I got off work. All I had to do was pay for it. (Which is normally an absolutely not. They are not to touch a computer until paid for.)

I only wish I could be there, when Lynn gives it to him next weekend. But unfortunately, I will probably have to work. I'd love to see the expression on his face.

Oh well, I guess I should start getting everything going here, so I can leave shortly.
