Back Home

Just got home from the trip to Wichita. Had dinner with Lynn's sister and mother last night, when we got in. There wasn't much open, so we ended up at Denney's. That was quite the experience.

Our waiter, Travis, was very cute, but he'll NEVER make it as a waiter, on his looks alone. After making several mistakes at our table, he ended up walking out in the middle of his shift, because his customers were stressing him out too much.

The waitress who took his place made the comment, he had already messed up 15 tickets last night, and her manager was just looking for a reason to get rid of him. She went on to complain about how she had only worked there for two weeks and was better than most of the wait staff. Lynn asked her the name of one of the other servers, who was working a table across from us. She didn't know his name, she just called him "the flamer", because, well, she knew he was gay and all. Lynn made some crack innuendo about her comment, but we don't think she ever did catch on, she was waiting on a couple gay boys.

After dinner, we headed back to the hotel. Lynn and I were up until 4:30 this morning. He was finishing up a lap throw for his grandfather and I was wrapping all the gifts. The alarm was set for 7:00, because we were supposed to meet his sister and mother for breakfast at 8:00.

To say the least, we ignored the alarm. His mother called at 8:30 to say they had just gotten up. We told them we'd meet them at 9:00. After breakfast, Lynn and I headed up to his great aunt and uncles for lunch. They live about 45 minutes north of Wichita.

They are very old fashioned, religious types. They had a strange tradition, I had never seen before. They baked a cake and put candles on it. And everyone sat around and sang Happy Birthday to Jesus.

Lynn definitely has some CUTE cousins. We were both commenting about which ones were the cutest.

After lunch, it was back to the hotel to exchange gifts and relax for a bit. We then all went over to the nursing home to visit his grandfather.

We headed out around 8:30, but needed to stop for gas and something to eat. We stopped at one of the local quick shops, shown below, where the cute young blond attendant winked at me as I was paying. Hhhhhmmmm, I wonder what time he got off.

A quick stop at Burger King, since it was the only thing open and then back on the road to KC.

Everything is pretty much unpacked and it's time for bed.
